PERFECT LIVEABOARD BOAT WITH REDESIGNED INTERIOR
1990 BAYLINER 4588 PILOTHOUSE MOTOR YACHT "Konakai"
Beautifully Redesigned Interior • Outstanding Liveaboard • Twin Hino Diesels
Step aboard “Konakai” and you quickly discover that this is not a typical 1990 Bayliner 4588.
Her owners are interior designers and approximately 20 years ago undertook an extensive redesign of the salon and pilothouse. Their goal was to maximize the considerable interior space of the 4588 while creating a layout and feel more reminiscent of the later Bayliner 4788.
The result is a warm, welcoming and functional interior that will likely be one of the biggest reasons to consider this boat.
Custom cabinetry and built-in drawers maximize storage throughout the salon and pilothouse without making the space feel crowded. Leatherette Settee, stylish chairs, granite countertops and high-end integrated appliances give the interior a comfortable residential feel that is unusual aboard a yacht of this vintage.
For someone looking for a liveaboard, floating cottage or spacious coastal cruiser, Konakai offers a tremendous amount of boat and living space.

Several steps up from the salon is the enclosed pilothouse with excellent visibility and additional seating, while the enclosed flybridge and upper aft deck provide another comfortable entertaining area outdoors.
POWER & MACHINERY
Konakai is powered by twin Hino 220 HP turbo diesel engines driving straight shafts through Hurth transmissions. A significant amount of mechanical maintenance has been completed recently, giving the next owner confidence in many of the boat's major operating systems. The owners have maintained a detailed log book; the engines don't start until the log book has been entered.

ELECTRONICS
The boat retains an older generation Garmin electronics package along with VHF radios at both helm stations. Everything is functional, but buyers may wish to modernize the navigation electronics over time as part of future upgrades.
CONDITION
Konakai is not being represented as a cosmetically restored Bayliner 4588, and that honesty is reflected in her presentation.
The exterior shows her age and there are areas of deferred maintenance that the next owner should expect to address. There are known soft spots in portions of the deck, the radar arch while structurally sound has been covered with vinyl on the underside and there are cosmetic areas on the exterior that would benefit from attention. The navigation electronics are also older.
What makes Konakai compelling is that while exterior projects remain, considerable money has recently been invested in the mechanical and electrical systems. The interior has been thoughtfully redesigned into a warm, functional living space that is unlike most Bayliner 4588s on the market.
For the buyer looking for an affordable 45-foot liveaboard with exceptional interior space and the opportunity to improve the exterior over time, Konakai offers tremendous value.
YACHT BC YACHT SALES
Konakai offers one of the most inviting interiors you will find aboard a Bayliner 4588. If your priority is comfortable living space, practical storage and a yacht that already feels like home, this is a boat that deserves to be seen in person.
